In the past month, the awards fairy has yet again flitted her tiny wings over my humble abode - not once, not twice but three times no less. Yet again I find myself remarkably grateful for these and yet again I find myself lurching into the scripted response; the one where I again talk about how some people don't 'do' awards and that's their decision - but that I will happily take any recognition that comes my way because, if nothing else, I think it would be bordering on rude not to.
I have been guilty of being more than a little rude and self-centred in the past - in fact if you have been reading me for any period of time, you will probably have surmised that I have been guilty of many sins in the past. I am still no angel but thankfully, I seem to have lost the heart to be cold, rude, inconsiderate or ungrateful any more. Life just seems too short to be anything other than grateful and kind these days and whilst the change sometimes surprises me, I am happy with it. I mentioned this relatively new-found attitude to my wife earlier this evening and sort of blamed her for my change of heart - but maybe I was just waiting for a reason, an excuse to nicen-up? It's altogether possible and I'm sure there's a posting there if I think long enough about it. Before I think about writing it, I may have to invest in some more semi-colons though. I think I'm nearly out of them and if you had not noticed, I do tend to use a fair few in each posting. Often inappropriately, I'm sure - but you are all nice enough not to point that out.
So when I say that I am profoundly grateful to you all - no matter how frequently or infrequently you visit - for wading through my often heavy and always wordy postings, please know that I am deadly serious and that the sentiment is entirely heartfelt. I really do appreciate your time, your comments, your everything. Truly and utterly - cross my heart and hope to die. The same goes to the people who passed me these three awards that I am about to pass on. There is a lot of good writing out there. I know - I read a lot of it every single week. That you chose to pass these awards on to me is something that I am exceptionally proud of and grateful for - and as I have already said, I think it would be rude of me not to acknowledge your consideration and pass them on before they gather dust.
So without further ado:

One Lovely Blog award

Kindly pushed to me by Indigo over at IndigoWrath. I would like to pass this on to Mr Charleston - he of Termites Of Sin fame. He changes his blog header on every single posting. That in itself would have won me over but there's something else about his blog that I absolutely love. I'd re-read his postings and try to explain why better, but it would just turn into a slushy love-in and I'd hate to embarass him. Let's just say that I'm a big fan and I make no apologies for throwing another award his way.

This came courtesy of Baloney, She's officially Tulsa's hottest property and yet another feelgood blogger. Her postings are friendly, warm and packed with humanity - and she has an ability to make you feel included in her life that I respect and value immensely. I would like to pass her gift onwards to:
Indigo at IndigoWrath - and not because he gave me an award previously, but because I tried to give him a different award earlier and he graciously declined, having already received it. His is another blog where his personality floods through freely and I appreciate his humour and his graciousness. Unless I'm very much mistaken, he's a quality guy - and you can't have too many of them in your days, can you?
Living In The O-Zone. This is a relatively new find for me but I am absolutely hooked. I feel almost like a voyeur reading some of his more personal postings but then he takes his foot off the gas and gives us a posting where we can relax and remind ourselves to exhale. An absolutely compelling combination as far as I am concerned and even if he turns out to be too cool for this whole awards lark, I cannot pass up the chance to acknowledge how much I appreciate what he does.

This came from the marvellously enigmatic Pheromone Girl. She suggested that I keep it handy until the opportunity to pass it on presented itself. As far as I'm concerned, that day is here, so please step forward.....
Holli from Holli's Ramblings. Because although her stuff is always compelling, this posting is unforgettable in my opinion and when I grow up - if I ever grow up enough - I want to write something as good as this.
I will be back towards the end of the week with a minor announcement - nothing major for you people but something I am very much looking forward to. Until then, it just leaves me to thank you again for stopping by, for reading, for commenting.

I am truly humbled, not so much by the award, but by your descriptive warmth towards my blog. I know that I can sometimes get testy and probably turn some people off, but, WTF, that's life. Thank you. Will immediately post my award.
Oh, BTW, take a look at a MinPin for your new dog. They're smart, clean and their personalities are incredible.
Thank you Matthew for the award. You're so sweet. Receiving an award from someone like you who writes with such amazing skill is a ego boost to say the least.
And what you say about my writing gave me goosebumps!
Thank you.
And there's that other great feeling [not the cleaning the closet part] about passing on kindness. Not enough of that in the world, so I'm glad you share.
And you can have my semi-colons for I seem to be addicted to ...
;)
congratulations on your awards. Can't wait to hear your news.
to nicen-up... i love that concept. you go ahead...
and congratulations on these lovely awards, well deserved they are!
What, me? Too cool for the award? Well, no. But I can think of others who deserve it more than I do. So, is this a way of rewarding me for not making a big deal out of your bleaching comment?
Bye the way... your blog updates don't appear in my dashboard even though I'm a follower.
you are very deserving of these fine awards, i've always enjoyed your writing.
btw, i thought i mentioned it earlier, but you need to stop by my blog where i have something for you. it's on my posting dated Nov. 4 ...
Talk about making myself look like an idiot. I just went to my dashboard and there was your latest update - this.
No, I'm definitely not too cool.
Thanks for the compass. I'm already on my way to check out those I was not already following.
-Joshua
Well done on all the awards my friend. And I will look forward to reading through some of the new blogs you have recommended (Not JenJen's though. She is still calling me crankypants)
Hey Matthew, an award? You're spoiling me; I'd be delighted to accept this one. Thanks for the kind words too. Now, who should I pass it on to?... Indigo
Congrats on the awards. Well deserved!
Congratulations, Matthaw. If ever anyone deserved an award it's you. I'm one of the 'don't do awards' brigade. You may be interested to read my post on the subject...

Congrats on your awards! You deserve them and more.
OMG, that's a lot of awards - congratulations.. I think that's fantastic.. and thanks for stopping by my blog and saying the kind words that you did..
I'll be checking out all the blogs you mentioned in your post - I am always on the prowl for good blog reads..
Congrats Matthew! I want to meet someone like your wife (but male version) to make me a nicer, calmer person too. You are very lucky!
Dan, RUDE.
J
Thanks for the compliment, Matthew.
Too many semicolons? I hadn't noticed.
I still love reading your posts.
Judging from the number of women who visited my site because of your award, I'd say either: 1. It's a good thing you're married, or 2. You better be careful or your wife's gonna kick your ass and your blogging days are over.
Well, congratulations on all the awards. You richly deserve them all. Keep bringing us the goods-- we thrive on it. And I look forward to your announcement later this week!
Congrats on the awards, it does not surprise me that you have recieved them. eloquent as always. smiles.
Congrats on your well deserved awards! I'll check out the blog links.
Thanks
jj
there isnät enough kindness in the world - take it where you can find it and remember to pass it on.
Mr Charleston... That's definitely life but that's what it's all about - life. Thanks for the heads-up on the MinPin, too.
JenJen... It's not what I say about your writing that matters - it's that you write it in the first place. This one's about you folks, not me. :)
hope... But ;) uses a semi-colon. Are you sure I won't leave you in danger of just )ing?!
Peach Tart... Thanks!
Shadow... If this little e-world we float around has this much room for the angries, hopefully it has enough room for the non-angries too. :)
O-Zone... Yeah, there are always plenty of people to choose from but I really do enjoy your stuff so the pleasure's all mine. As an aside, I got more 'wtf' messages about my bleaching comment on your posting than any I've ever done!
Jessie... Thank-you! I didn't know about that before you mentioned it. I will be over asap to formally thank you.
O-Zone... Blame Blogger. Works for me every time. Glad you're a cool uncool person. :)
Joshua... Just follow the sun, grasshopper.
Dan... Crankypants? Who'd have thought it!?
Indigo... I'm just pleased I found one you didn't have!
Eva... Too kind! Thank you.
Valerie... I will read that link - as soon as I can get it to open!
If one were to follow the sun from sunrise to sunset, wouldn't you just end up in the same place you started?
-Joshua
kys... I'm just glad someone stops by. Really, anything else is just a bonus.
MissOT... Stopping by was a pleasure. Thanks for following suit. :)
Kitty... A male version of my wife? Is that your way of saying you're into feminine men? Where were you when I was 18, damn it?!
Janice... Thanks - and thanks again!
JenJen... You and Crankypants - take it outside. No blood on the wooden floors if you don't mind.
Baloney... I'm pleased I have lasted the test of time so far! :)
Mr Charleston... Being married is indeed a very good thing. Remind me to send you more blokes next time for parity's sake.
Leah... I'll do what I can. Thanks for your kind words.
Brian... Did you just copy and paste my comment on your last posting back to me!? ;)
hope... Yeah - I see what you mean about winks. They're alright, aren't they?!
Joanna... I hope you enjoy the links as much as I do.
Heather... Could not agree with you more. Lovely to meet you - come back any time. :)
Joshua... That's not the real issue. Telly Savalas hit the true issue when he pondered 'if a picture paints a thousand words then why can't I paint you'. Also, what if you were painting at sunset - or in the direction of the sun's trajectory. Would you paint quicker, or slower?
Hypothetical, by the way.
Matthew, congrats on your awards. I've started checking out your blog recommendations and I like what I see. Thanks.
Semi colons, colons, commas - I am like you, I put them into my writing everywhere ... willynilly. Maybe it's something to do with my being a graphic designer - I think it makes the page 'look' good.
It's a habit I need to break though because improper use does break the flow. :)
