Whereabouts revealed.

Just as it did yesterday, my sun sits astride another clear blue sky today. It rides the heavens remorselessly, relentlessly and my town is scorched, blasted as a result. Even steps into the shade offer no respite from this kiln in which I reside.

Unremitting hour after unremitting hour, the heat can take its toll. When it goes like this there is only one place to be, only one place that truly satisfies and offers contentment, elation - and it is not sat here in front of a computer as air conditioning works overtime to dry the sweat which runs in lethargic droplets down my bare back. Instead, I go here.

Some would choose to draw the blinds, turn on the fans and hibernate in their gloom. Not me though - that's not how I want to remember this time. So this is where you will find me, for now at least. I will be back when life is less enticing; when my skin is brown and my body is weary from hours spent buffeted by the warm surf. I will be back when my shoulders prickle at the end of the day - when I have finished gathering driftwood, seaglass; gathering the memories that wash up on the wet sand under my feet.

Funny that you are telling of sweltering heat while I pull out our woolies for the winter onslaught to begin.

Enjoy the surf!

It's a beautiful beach and a great place to spend time.

Enjoy your summer (and remember the SPF!)

aaaah, wanna swop? we're supposed to be having summer, but it's been raining non-stop for way too long, and the jerseys have still not been put away....

Save the beach finds in a canning jar. A separate jar for each time out. Then you can enjoy the rediscovery of all those little gems that surface for you that day. It's such a gift to comb through them. It's amazing the memory a tiny seashell has in it but you see it again and it has the power to bring you back to the time you found it. You can go back and experience it again.

Have a great time out there enjoying life's enticements. Bring back some collections to share with us!!! Especially the part about how hot it is. We're heading into winter over here.

Been reading about Australia's unprecedented drought. Sound's really scary. On the other hand, so are Great Whites at the beach.

Beautiful, but here in Maine, USA, winter is fast approching!

I could hear the waves lapping the beach, even as the temperature here begins to drop.

Guess I wouldn't mind the summer heat either if the beach was a little closer to the house. ;)

Have fun. And don't play with the sharks.

Oh...is this goodbye?
Say it isn't so!

Stepdaughter told me about the heat... I ignored her and got on with moaning about our cool, wet weather. Still I don't bear grudges haha. Go get in that sea and keep cool while I try and get over my jealousy.

Wow - sounds fabulous. Have a cool and sun-soaked experience if you get my drift. We've been to the beach today but we've been wrapped up against the wind and our ears still got cold!

Hey Matthew! Damn, that beach looks amazing. I'm sure you remember how enticing the English ones are. Bournemouth? Whitley Bay? Scarborough? Blackpool?! I spent a fabulous three weeks in Queensland a few years ago, and MAN, the beaches! Oh, and the seafood. And the scuba. Nice folks, too. Ok, now I'm all cold, hungry and grumpy. Indigo

Great post. I have too much to say about wishing I was at an Aussie beach LOL, so I'll leave it brief.

Would love to go there some day! It's so damn cold out here!!!

Give me London in winter anytime.

You can take you hot beaches, with all the hot women on it, lying half undressed in tiny revealing swim suits, slowly rubbing suntan lotion into long, tanned limbs. Rubbing in with little sensual circular motions, and......

I've just got to pop off for the moment to the toilet.

I'll be right back.....

I agree, "carpe diem"! The summer won't last but your computer and your blog followers will still be there when the heat fades.

I can't go to the beach when it's too too hot! So well done you. Remember to wear sunscreen (slip, slop, and slap)...

And all I can say is thank goodness for Melbourne's cool change. whew.

f8hasit... Yes, the whole northern/southern hemisphere thing never fails to amuse me. Enjoy your autumn and winter. :)

kylie... I think it's the lighthouse. It's hard to forget, I find.

Ma... The SPF is always packed, yet somehow it always seems to get washed off in the sea. Go figure.

Shadow... I'd love to swap but I fear I'd be denying you poetic opportunity - so thanks, but no thanks. ;)

Amy... Lovely sentiments. Thank you for visiting and commenting. :)

Mr Charleston... It's sad, but we never seem to have enough rain and always seem to have too many farmers suffering in the drought.

Eva... I love autumn and winter - as long as I'm looking at pictures of them rather than living them!

hope... We're lucky - the beach is only 10 minutes away. We're also lucky that the shark nets are in place offshore. :)

Heather... Think of it as an excuse for a log fire?!

JenJen... It isn't so. There - how's that sitting with you? :)

Valerie... I did, and will continue to do so.

Kate... I remember english beaches. Even in summer they were a bit of an acquired taste. :)

Indigo... I was in Blackpool overnight last February and it was so grey that it was just marvellous. I'm sort of pleased I didn't see it on a sunny day as it may have ruined the moment for me!

Confessions Of A.... Thankyou for commenting again. I think this means I can shorten your name without feeling like I'm being overly forward. From here onwards, I dub thee 'Confessions'. Arise Dame Confessions.

Joanna... You won't be waiting long - I just wanted to explain my silence, that's all. :)

Secretia... Rather than stay as long as possible, I plan to go back frequently instead!

willowandwattle... Welcome - and no need to be brief, as any of my postings will prove. :)

LMJ... Weird thing was, I had no desire to EVER come here before I eventually did. Now I can't imagine being anywhere else.

Dan... Rearrange the following three words into a pertinent observation: A. Worry. You're.

DianeSS... I like your attitude!

Deidre... My wife is always telling me that we need to avoid the hottest part of the day - and I always ask what the point of that is!

Ellie... You? An Australian? Sunburnt? Isn't that illegal? Aren't you meant to be showing us how to tan properly?! ;)

Jessie... It's close.

Poindexter... I did. Quite a bit of seaweed too!

Aunt Becky... I'll be sure to try and update you over the coming months so that you get a taste. :)

Your picture added warmth to my cold, cold body. I'm sitting at my office computer shivering from the lack of heat. But I just had a nice warm moment in those blue waves you presented me with!
